First off, feel free to move this side discussion to a new topic, I would if I had moderator rights here.
That question sent my mind thinking about the entire call stack and changes, so I asked ChatGPT which pointed me to
https://meta.discourse.org/u/ericgt/preferences/interface
This is the current value, did not change it.
I do not know where of if there is a setting for locale?
Using Windows 11 with Chrome to access the topic.
Any other info needed?
sorry i meant location but that shouldn’t matter if you have language set i think. why do you have show in original language checked? just curious - maybe try unchecking it?
To see the translated version of the post, you need to remove the checkmark. Currently you chose to see the original post.
There is also a toggle button on every topic which is directly connected to your preference. So whenever you use the button on a topic, your preference is updated too.

Thanks.
I will try that.
The odd part, or perhaps the other side of this issue, is that I have seen replies by gilles, who posts in French, shown to me in translated English. So it appears that some posts are translated even with the checkbox selected, while in this case the checkbox may need to be cleared.
I will test that next and report back.
Also, thanks for pointing out the site-wide toggle. I had not noticed it, but I see it now that you mentioned it.
Yes, that works!
Steps

4. Navigate back to oringinal post and refresh page. I clicked
to the left the URL control to trigger a refresh.
