The notification emails, digest emails, etc, are all beautifully designed and look amazing on any device.

But why is the email that gets sent to confirm your new account so very plain in its formatting and design?

100% 確信はありませんが、歴史的な理由があるのかもしれません。確認メールはアカウント作成に不可欠であり、平文のメールはスパムフォルダに分類されにくいからです。
