Why were that many translations removed?

Can someone explain why that many existing translations were removed in this PR?

One example is the German translation for all the texts needed for the high context cards of the Horizon theme. On Meta I now see those texts in English (apart from the date and time)

On my forum that was updated less than 12 hours ago those translations are still available. There is a translation for solved, for replies, for posted, and for replied

Another example is the footnote plugin. Here on Meta I now see “add footnote” again

But on my forum, you can see that there was a translation a few hours ago

I could continue this list with chat, ai, rewind, calendar, …

Can someone explain why all those translations were removed?

Looks like because of this: DEV: fix a large amount of typos by SamSaffron · Pull Request #37428 · discourse/discourse · GitHub

I’ll take a look later this week. It’s very unfortunate that we lost so many translations, but I’m not sure if there’s an easy solution to get them back.

Can you explain that in more detail? I understand that the ~20 texts containing typos had or have to be retranslated, because “keep_translations” wasn’t added. But where is the connection to all the other texts I translated in the past weeks that were removed?

For example, the Horizon texts weren’t changed in the PR you referenced. There is no change in the themes folder in the typo PR

Still, those were removed in the PR that updated the translations

The last changes on those texts where 3 weeks ago

If those were removed because the texts changed, wouldn’t they show up on Crowdin for translation again? According to Crowdin, apart from the new setting description, Horizon is fully translated. Solved, posted, and the other texts have their translations as they had in the past weeks.

Huh, that’s strange. Thanks for pointing it out. I’ll check what happened.
