Hey people, looking to migrate from Xenforo 2.3 to Discourse. I need to be careful of this process and wanted to ask a few questions before giving it a shot. I did a few searches about migrating from XF here before posting, but most threads were a few years old. I didn’t actually see any official mi…

I think this is the xenforo migration topic. [image] Migrate a XenForo forum to Discourse Sysadmins Hey guys so after trying for a week or so I decided to import the database on docker app which I hoped it will succeed without any issues. TBH I got some issues…

The script is here . It works just like the others. [image] Chadi: I didn’t actually see any official migration documenation. Here are some instructions. [image] Migrate a XenForo forum to Discourse Sysadmins Hey guys so after trying for a week or so I …

[image] Jay Pfaffman: That’s because not much has changed. I suspect that no news is good news. true. I have migrated my xf 2.2 to discourse in the past and it worked very well. Not sure but i think I just needed to change the images/avatars path in the config file.

just my two cents here, since it will vastly differ from what most people are saying. despite contributing quite a bit to the big xenforo thread folks have linked to (see my posts and screenshots there), i was NOT able to get the xenforo importer to work, despite testing across multiple versions an…

[image] Matt D: take my input seriously. hmmm, maybe I am missing something, but I think being able to pay for something vs asking for free work likely doesn’t have anything to do with how serious your input is being taken. People have successfully migrated Xenforo to Discourse.

I’m perfectly willing to pay for the work, but you’re lumping in two different subjects that are going on in that thread. I don’t see trying to contribute to the importer as asking for ‘free work’. I’m putting in 40+ hours of testing and documentation, and frankly, the response I’ve gotten from the …

I saw that you posted in marketplace about this - were you able to get a fix? also, you clearly said “volunteering” which I interpreted as free work. maybe try posting in Marketplace again if you are willing to pay for more work?

[image] Matt D: it’s pretty obvious the importer is broken, and no one is willing to work on fixing it. Only someone who has access to a Xenforo database can work to fix it. Saying that it’s broken, and even exactly how, isn’t enough for anyone to use your information to fix the script. It’s…

[image] SubStrider: or the migration issues troubleshooting done? It completely depends on what needs to be fixed. It could take hours or days of work.

What is usually a budget for getting the migration done or the migration issues troubleshooting done? Asking so that I can take a decision if I have the appetite for it.
