It seems to me that the number is not correct? It’s fine on other sites though.
AI-generated summary
The discussion on Discourse Meta addresses an issue with the incorrect display of moderator and admin counts. tvavrda initially noticed the discrepancy, where admins who are also moderators were not being counted. Canapin confirmed this behavior, noting that the count showed zero despite multiple admin-mods. tvavrda suggested that the number of moderators should be displayed when admins are hidden. sam acknowledged the issue and confirmed it would be fixed. tvavrda later reported that the count now appears correct but noted a duplicate display of moderators in different languages. tobias eigen explained that the duplicate display was due to a theme component and has been resolved, along with the admin/moderator count issue via a PR. tvavrda praised the updated About page design and its statistics, using it as a benchmark for their own community’s future development.
Admins who are also moderators don’t count for this counter apprently (which seems wrong).
On my forum, we are 3 admins also moderators and this count shows 0.
On another forum, 1 moderator, 1 admin+moderator, it counts 1.
I understand. Although I thought it used to show the number here on meta. But anyway in case admins are hidden it seems wrong. I think the number of admins should not show 0 but should be hidden if admins are hidden and the number of moderators should show up in those cases.
Thanks for reporting, yes we are aware of this issue and will be fixing it.
A post was split to a new topic: Why am I not notified on every like?
It seems to show the right number now but I see the list of moderators twice (once in English and once localized).
The duplicate display of groups here on meta has now been fixed. It was caused by the Add groups to the /about page theme component which I have now removed.
The admin and moderator counts and proper hiding of admins was fixed in this PR:

I’m glad to see that this issue was noticed. We sometimes wonder how important it is to improve this area of Discourse because it is rather buried in the interface!
I like the new design of the About page. It displays some rather interesting statistics about the site in a simple way. And I look to Meta’s page as an étalon [1] of how it could look like when my community is successful ![]()
Besides I am checking if my translations worked.
In this context, étalon refers to a standard or model that is regarded as the best of its kind and is used as a benchmark for comparison. Your comment suggests using Meta’s About page as an ideal example or standard for what your own community’s About page could aspire to look like when your community achieves success. Essentially, it’s a way of saying that Meta’s design serves as a perfect template or a gold standard. (Explanation by AI) ↩︎
