How to get all replies in a connected view?

AI-generated summary

The discussion is about viewing connected replies in Discourse. @Rainshine is looking for a way to display a line connecting all replies when expanding them, as seen in a screenshot. @pfaffman responds that this feature is not possible without duplicating posts, but @Arkshine mentions that this design has been available since last year, referencing a GitHub pull request. @Rainshine discovers that the solution involves deactivating a specific checkbox, as shown in a screenshot, and shares this with the community to help future visitors.

Hello Community,
I already searched for it but was not able to find a solution.

Request: I want the replies on our discourse like this:

But currently I’m not able to get that line connected to all replies.

How do I enable that?

Thanks in advance you are all the best

You can’t. And people will be sad if you do because the replies that are expanded in your image will still appear below in their proper place in the post stream, and then people will complain that they are duplicated.

Discourse is designed for people to read all the posts.

Hi Jay,
maybe I asked in a wrong way.

I just want to get that line when I expand the replies.

Currently when I expand the replies I don’t see that line.

I know that discourse can’t be like reddit.

What is your Discourse version? Do you have a custom theme?

This design has been available since last year: UX: Merge the redesign experiment for embedded replies by jancernik · Pull Request #26876 · discourse/discourse · GitHub

Hello Arkshine,
Currently 3.5.0.beta1-dev is installed.

Do I need to enable it somewhere to get these lines when I expand a reply?

I found the solution:
you need to deactivate this checkbox
