Grant admin confirmation mail not sent discussion revolves around Francis Martens encountering an issue where an email is not sent when attempting to grant admin access to a colleague. Francis Martens checked the email log and found no record of the email being sent, despite the UI indicating it was sent. Tinelord suggested checking the email log and testing email functionality, which Francis Martens confirmed worked without issue. Coin-coin le Canapin recommended checking the sending email provider’s logs, but Francis Martens stated there was no log because no email was sent.
As a temporary solution, Timelord suggested granting admin rights via CLI, providing useful links for Francis Martens.
To debug the issue, Coin-coin le Canapin asked if using another admin account or changing the admin’s email address would resolve the issue. Bathinda Helper recommended searching the meta site for related topics, as there may be multiple reasons for the issue.
The reason for the email not being sent remains unclear, with Francis Martens seeking a configuration setting or debugging method to identify the cause.
Yesterday, someone contacted me with a similar issue. The recipient’s email provider rejected the email, and this was recorded in the sending provider’s logs.
CLI - that is new to me. If you have any useful links how to get access to the cli and documentation on the subject - thanks for sharing.
Independently from solving the immediate problem of granting the user admin access, I would like to understand how I could debug the fact that the email is not being send. It might be useful to identify a bug and improve discourse?
its a bit long story.
Better you search this meta side (with or without the help of AI) for related topics. You ought to spend some time on this, as there is no sure steps for it. There are multiple things, as far as my limited knowledge says.
