becl installed the Advertising plugin but initially thought it only supported third-party ads like Google Ads. They wanted to run custom, self-created ads for clients, displayed on the dashboard and specific categories. NateDhaliwal clarified that the plugin supports “House Ads” — custom ads created by the admin — and provided a link to documentation. becl then asked how to find the file path for uploaded images to use in HTML ads. After some experimentation, they discovered that clicking the uploaded image in the component opens it in a new tab, allowing them to copy the URL directly — and confirmed it’s working. becl now seeks to center the image and display different ads per category, indicating they’re progressing toward their goal of monetizing their Discourse forum with custom advertising.
I have installed the Advertising plugin but realised it only allows you to run ads like google ads. I want to run ads in my forum but I want them to be ads that I create myself and charge a client for the advertising space.
I am not sure how I could go about this. I would want to run ads on the main dashboard and also in certain categories. The ads would all be different in the different categories.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
It’s ok I figured it out. Just click on the uploaded image in the component and it will open in a new window and I could cut and paste it from there. It is working!
Now I just need to figure out how to centre the image and get it to display different ads in different categories.
