Theme Component for text over pics?

I’m wondering if there is a way (I searched and didn’t find one) to put an image in a post and then put text over it directly in the compose box?

Is this something that could be done with a component?
Bonus points if you can round off the two top corners.

I know this is possible with HTML and CSS, but it would be really cool if you could make it nice and neat in the settings. Like you can choose ‘Arial Black’ ‘60px’ ‘Opacity=90%’ ‘Fill=#ffffff’ ‘Stroke=#800080’ ‘Position=lower left’
I don’t know if you can do all those things, that’s just a wishlist. I do know the text over image is doable.

Then when you add an image you can define the text for it and you’ve got instant topic image banners.

Annotation appears to be not fully working right now, and Watermark can only apply an image, it doesn’t work with text.

Thanks though, I guess I wasn’t using the right search terms.

oof. I thought I’d suggest it but like I mentioned I wasn’t sure what state it was in.

If you can’t find what you need you have two options.

1. Try and build your own theme component. There are guides here on Meta.

2. Assuming you have the budget, you could ask in the Marketplace category to see if anyone would be willing to build something for you.

Why isn’t text watermarking supported?

Text watermarking would require extensive configuration options (font selection, styling, etc.) that would be difficult to implement effectively without a dedicated interface. Image watermarks provide more flexibility and can be created using existing design tools.

I’m aware, thanks. I have plenty of tools to handle the task outside of Discourse. I was just hoping for some one stop shopping.

What issues did you encounter? You might want to report them. i’m pretty sure someone will fix the component.

EDIT: I did a quick test and the component works for me. However, the features are quite limited for texts.
