I know this is an oldie but a goodie!
There has been talk about introducing colors and emojis for tags, like categories, but it does not exist in core Discourse just yet.
I agree it would be quite nice to have a setting in this theme component to allow kanban board columns to be shown in the color of the associated category or tag.
