Continuing the discussion from When moving a solved topic to a category that disallows solutions, remove solved:
Looks like this feature was added recently:
Overall, the feature works but maybe a bit too well
I’ve noticed a few problematic side effects caused by these changes:
- When a solution is removed because all tags that allowed solving the topic are removed, there is no warning that this action will remove the solution. This is especially problematic because:
- The solution is also removed even if the topic is in a category that allows solutions, as soon as the tags are removed. As long as either the category or a tag allows solutions, I would expect the topic to remain solved.
- The issue also exists the other way around: if a topic is in a category that allows solutions and has a tag that allows solutions, and the topic is moved to a different category, the solution is removed. In this case at least there is a warning but I would prefer if it was possible to keep the solution instead of having to select it again after the topic is moved.
Would it be possible to:
- Warn users when removing tags will result in the solution being removed?
- Keep solutions as long as either the category or at least one tag allows the topic to be marked as solved?
