A discussion was started by joebuhlig about adding two plugin outlets, user_activity_bottom and user_menu_glyphs, to Discourse. The goal is to allow users to show topics they’ve voted on in their user activity menu, similar to Bookmarks.
joebuhlig proposed adding a plugin outlet after the bookmarks link on the user activity page and another outlet for adding a glyph to the user menu. cpradio supported the idea and suggested it could be useful for other plugins, such as Private Profile Notes.
Mittineague initially had some questions about the user_menu_glyphs outlet, but eventually understood the proposal. joebuhlig clarified that the outlet would be before the other glyphs in the menu.
However, a potential issue was raised by Sam on GitHub about the user-menu-glyphs add, specifically what happens when there is a long username. joebuhlig experimented with different solutions, but ultimately decided to skip the user_menu_glyphs outlet due to concerns about styling and potential issues with other plugins.
Cpradio suggested an alternative solution, which would force the outlet to be below the current glyphs, but joebuhlig decided against it. erlend_sh suggested a possible override for communities that are very idea-centric, but agreed that adding a 4th icon would likely be more trouble than it’s worth.
In the end, the user_activity_bottom outlet was implemented, but the user_menu_glyphs outlet was not.
