Understanding how Discourse saves live transcription drafts

When using the Transcript feature, where does the transcription go?

Into the user topic drafts.

I was recently testing out the feature and one of the participants (not me) tried it out but then was unable to find the transcript anywhere. The announcement post says ‘topic draft’ but when I checked (Impersonating that user’s account there were no drafts).

I guess something failed on his side.

Ask Discourse says this, which doesn’t match anything I can find here in this thread, and I’m fairly sure is inaccurate:

It’s quite close to the reality and the preferred flow. Only part wrong, is that even if you end the call improperly (tab refresh, tab close) you will still have the transcription draft from the last persisted message.

Generally speaking topic drafts in Discourse are continuously saved automatically server-side, so that draft wouldn’t be ephemeral and lost if the browser/tab is closed.

That is how it works for me
