Does this forum “require account approvals” via must_approve_users ?

Is this a private community via the login_required setting?

I like this as an immediate fix. In the case of my forums, the relevant setting is invite only.

Whatever the solution, unfortunately we will have to wait until our hosting provider rolls out the next Discourse beta release to our site.

We just merged this change.

FEATURE: allow disabling of anti spam profile hiding feature

1. We unconditionally disable the feature when sites are invite_only or must_approve_users
2. Admins can opt out of the anti spam feature by setting hide_new_user_profiles to false
