Should I install our forum with Docker on Plesk? 🤔🛠️

Hi everyone!
I need your advice. I’m thinking about installing our forum with Docker on Plesk, as I’ve been having persistent issues with my root server.

:mag: Here’s the problem:
When hosting the forum directly on my root server, I constantly run into issues with the SMTP server. :e-mail:

  • The system fails to send emails, which is critical for the forum (e.g., registration confirmations).
  • If I remove the ' character from the SMTP password (because the system doesn’t seem to accept it), nothing works at all. :x:

That’s why I’m considering trying it with Plesk, as it might be simpler or more reliable there.

:small_blue_diamond: Have any of you tried this setup before?
:small_blue_diamond: Is Docker on Plesk a good solution for running a forum?
:small_blue_diamond: Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of?
:small_blue_diamond: Or do you have suggestions for fixing the SMTP issue directly on my root server?

I’d really appreciate your input – any help or shared experience would mean a lot! Thanks so much!

Does the noreply email have to exist as a mailbox or can it be one that doesn’t exist?

A noreply email doesn’t need to be a real mailbox, it can just be an address used to send emails without receiving any. Just make sure your domain’s email settings (like SPF, DKIM, and DMARC) are properly set up so your emails don’t end up in spam.

The settings are correct but if I delete them nothing works even after the ./launcher rebuild app command

@NateDhaliwal @Moin suggested you ./discourse-doctor did you gave it a shot?

yes there is an error with smtp, and I don’t know exactly what the server address is in plesk but I have entered everything that is in the picture here

Plesk will make it much more complicated to install and won’t solve any of your email problems.
