Unable to Send Admin Emails After Forum Installation

Hey everyone!

Today, I tried installing and setting up a new forum, and while the installation itself went smoothly, I’ve run into a frustrating issue.

The forum isn’t sending any emails to the admin account. :love_letter::x:
I’m using Plesk to manage my email settings, but despite my efforts to configure everything properly, the emails just won’t send.

I’ve double-checked the email settings multiple times to ensure everything is configured correctly in Plesk, but the problem persists. I also went through the “How-To” documentation, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find a solution there either. :open_book::mag:

Has anyone experienced this before? Or do you know what could be causing this? Maybe some SMTP configuration I’ve overlooked in Plesk?

I’d really appreciate any help or suggestions you might have to fix this!

Thanks in advance!

Correct me if I’m wrong, you have successfully installed Discourse and you are facing trouble sending mails to the admin account? Did you check if you were able to send emails to any user?

So for other sites/software I use the plesk email system and it works without any problems or is it the server? I’m not 100% sure if it’s the right server, but Plesk says there are email details for it so I think it’s right

I can not set up the forum yet because I can not verify the admin account

Did you make sure to add the MX records to your DNS provider? These records are super important for getting your emails delivered properly. You can test it out by sending an email from your Gmail account to your admin account to see if everything’s working.

Also, double-check your SMTP settings, things like your username, password, server address, and port. Even a tiny typo can mess things up. The error you’re seeing is probably just a small mistake somewhere. Relax and then, go through it step by step, and give it another shot.

All DNS entries are correct, I have been using it for almost 1 year and there have never been any problems and discourse is the first software / website where it doesn’t work

If you got some couple of minutes I would suggest to give it a fresh install maybe it would work.

I’ve been trying this since 2pm and it doesn’t work

Can you once try using a different service like Amazon SES or Zoho ZeptoMail, let’s see if that works. Also, none would cost you an amount to just test. Also, from what I know Zoho does not ask for CC too.

I have entered what is written here

and the password is correct you can compare it to the picture above and then say if I have forgotten something

How can I test it on Zoho, what do you mean?

So you went through Troubleshoot email on a new Discourse install ?

What did the doctor say?
