I just ran across this person working on a Discord bot to make every message in a channel into its own thread automatically. I immediately thought “Discourse and integrated chat would be so much better at this”, and so I bring it here for consideration:
Essentially the idea would be that you could define a category in Discourse where every new Topic automatically had Chat enabled/was Chat. I see value in this myself, and clearly others do too. However I would say for me personally this is a low priority, so I’m mainly putting it here as an idea in case it is useful as the early foundations of this system are implemented.
