Thanks Sam was not aware of this option. My forum is still in early stages so haven’t had an issue yet. But know once things are more active with sign ups, often that is when spam accounts start.
They have submitted a bug report here.

I just got admin rights over at HA discourse, I’ll have to talk with @MissyQ before implementing something like this. She’s planning to “overhaul” our discourse server in the near future.
