Ability to pin messages in chat

There is currently no “pin” feature in Discourse chat. There should be a pin feature for the chat, in case important messages need to be pinned for users to read. Pinning messages can be done if you are a moderator/admin or if you are in a personal message. This feature is currently implemented in Discord, as can be seen below:

Seeing that screenshot makes me wonder if we could merge pinned messages into the same panel we use for chat threads.

+1 to this. would be a great feature to be able to pin a message to the top of the chat window like you can in slack with the ability to limit permissions for the feature to staff/admin.

Not sure if this is the same thing, but I want to pin a chat message to the top of the chat window so it is always visible even as the new messages appear and scroll down.

My use-case is that I created a chat channel to discuss a live-video so ideally the actual video remains visible as the chat scrolls below. Perhaps there are other ways to handle this, but pinning the chat message that has the embedded video seems like a good general solution.

A rich always-visible channel-description could accomplish the same thing.

Is it still not possible to pin messages in chat?

It would be nice to have something like this in the chat box.
