When working on this I actually tried something like this:

I am mixed on this, prefer it cause it is more compact but worried about new topic being so close to

agreed. hence why I didn’t keep it, but I wanted to show the selector on the same line as the number of results which I do think is working quite well. But then only having [+ New Topic] on one line alone is weird.

Can we please leave this New Topic thing alone? It’s fine as is for now.

I don’t profess to know, but my understanding is that most people never go past the first results in a Google search. I sometimes do, but usually I refine the search terms. In that light, I think it would be better to have “Advanced Search” more attractive than “New Topic”. Maybe put the New at the bottom of Advanced?
