I cleaned up the SSO login issues per:

https://github.com/discourse/discourse/commit/e6fcaadd456c1ac02c8d32e4e968577e683f8e65

In particular these now work as expected

  • Connect → Login via google → authorize
  • Connect → Login via sso → authorize

If you’re in need of more beta users, I’d like to try it out.

Looks excellent so far and great to see the authorisation was picked up seamlessly from Safari. Some minor points of feedback:

  • when authorising a forum, I’m returned to the forum list with the “authorise” button visible and enabled, and no progress indicator to show that I need to wait for authorisation

  • I don’t get push notifications from either of the two forums I’m following (meta and se23.life). I know this may be unavailable for my own forum, but wondered if I should see them from meta?

  • may look more consistent with the platform if it’s a “+” icon rather than “add” text

Did you get this push notification?

I did, and it was splendid!

Really loving this app, great work.

Using it leaves me wanting more speed.

Would it be possible to pre-load the mobile sites that I have connected so that clicking on a site from the list loads more quickly?

I’d also like a way to switch between the sites in the browser without closing the window and forcing me to reload the whole app again next time I access that site.

One idea would be to implement a swipe gesture on the browser that switches between the connected sites.

I got a PN as well (on another meta topic) which was great. But when clicking on it, I was taken to the app’s home screen. Is that the current behaviour?

I second the wish to have PNs working for self-hosted sites, eventually.

It should take you to the actual topic, what iOS are you on?

Huh, this one did! Great! (On ios 9)

@pmusaraj perhaps it was an issue with @mention, did this work properly ?

Just to make things clear, does this work for every install of Discourse? Self-hosted and hosted installs alike? Does it require a particular version of the software?

I too would love an invitation, but only if it works for self-hosted.

Is this thread the sole place to give feeback?

Not sure if you still accept beta tester for the iOS app, but if so, I’d be happy to give it a try.

This worked too. So not entirely sure what didn’t work the first time but will keep an eye on it.

Hi Sam

This sounds fantastic and really promising. Please could you invite me to the beta testing?

Thanks
Charlotte

The app itself works fine on self hosted installs. You just add your site by URL. What’s exclusive for our customers, is push notifications.

However this is a very early beta period, so Sam is really doing a lot of ground work that made the entire product better, like user read only api, which is a great thing to have, regardless of the app.

That’s perfectly clear and I understand the limitations. Great work!

Hello

I’m Adrien from the Infinite Flight community. I’m a regular user there and I love to interact with other users there. I would love to help you testing your awesome looking iOS mobile app on my iPhone 5S and iPad Mini 2 (which I hope to renew soon) by giving you detailed feedback. I got experience with developing and I understand how important it is to give accurate feedback. I suppose you need my mail address, but don’t worry, I will PM it if needed.

Thanks in advance,
Adrien

There’s been some talk about this in the Android topic:

So in short, we’re looking into it  This might only be possible on Android though.
