I’ve had this bug a few times and am looking for a fix.
People have joined my site (WordPress), the SSO has created their Discourse account, then they realised they wanted to changed their username, we tell them you can’t do that on WordPress, so they delete their account and sign up again - same email, new username.
But because the Discourse account was never deleted, it gets hooked up again and they still have the same username on Discourse.
Simple enough fix, we can go in and change it, but the user does not know this. One user signed up about 10 times trying to fix it!
Is there anything we can do to either:
- Anonymise a user if they delete their WP account, and disconnect it.
or
- If someone signs up with the same email address, automatically update their username to match
