Categories stand out more and pull attention from topics

Our Discourse instance has been updated from 2.1 to 2.2 yesterday and i have noticed a subtle change in the UI and wanted to discuss this.

I have noticed that categories badges under topics names are more prominent (use bold font face and maybe the square dot is bigger also). This is a bit distracting. My main focus is unread threads, so when i first open our forums my attention jumps to these big black words. I can probably get used to that, but i just wonder is it really needed to emphasize categories that much. It also looks differently on mobile (font is not bold) and i like it more this way. Categories blend with read topics more and don’t stand out. Examples on desktop and mobile:

This is exactly what I thought about the change. But after a while, you’ll get used to it.

You can certainly use CSS to de-emphasize the categories if you wish.

If i do this, it will also affect the mobile version view?

You can separate them. There are common/desktop/mobile options. Common means both, and the other two are specific.
