El chat tiene su propia página

I think that there should be a landing page for chat room URLs for people who are not signed up to the forum. The reason is simple: if you can get people into your chat room, they might use your forum.

It’s really easy to get a hundred people into a Telegram or a Discord or even an Element server. It’s really hard to get people to use a forum. But if the forum is always right there (a page away), then people in the chat might use it, which will drastically boost engagement on the site and make it stickier / more attractive for other users.

Currently, when you link a chat room, it just takes you to the front page of the forum.

Can you describe or show a mockup of what you think this should look like?

My interpretation is a URL that points to the full-screen view of a chat window.

But chats are not public, right? So what would that page contain? A generic representation showing what a chat window looks like, with a CTA to signup to join the conversation?

Hold on, I’m just super busy. I will make a mockup with inkscape later

  1. You click the “Invite” button

  2. You select “Invite to Chat” dropdown and select the chat

  3. Copy the link. User clicks it.

  4. Landing page:

[Chat room name]

Make an account to join the chat!

  1. User clicks “sign up” and signs up for the forum

  2. User is automatically redirected to the chat URL

Basically do it the same way that Discord or Telegram does it.

It’s a very simple change but I think it will have a very big effect on making forums more accessible.
