The problem is that it gamifies sentiment. That would make it impossible to do any real sentiment analysis on the forum in the future. For example: “Our beta testers said they loved the product. Why isn’t anyone buying it?”
Does the system have any way to differentiate between someone “being negative” as opposed to mentioning that there is something that happened that could be considered negative?
As in:
“Today, there is rain.” Is not a negative statement.
However: “This weather today stinks.” Is a negative way of interpreting an event.
Sentiment would generally classify “There is rain” as neutral, and stinks as negative… its all on a gamut so it would say N% negative etc…
That makes sense, don’t know much about how language can be interpreted by that kind of a system but seems like it certainly could be helpful for identifying overall trends or unusual spikes in talk that would indeed be helpful for moderators to take note of when it may be a good idea to check in with folks.
