Our site didn’t allow usernames and group names to contain Unicode letters, and this seems to be causing some problems
The default group name of administrators contains unicode letters.
As a result, when I opened my admin message box, I got a error like …
“管理员” means administrators in Chinese.

The only way I could replicate this was if I enabled unicode usernames before swopping locale. If not, the automatic group names remained untranslated.
Could you talk me through the sequence of how you came across this conflict so I could test it more fully on my test site?
I disabled unicode letters after swopping locale.
Maybe the sequence of operations is causing the problem.
