Just making a note that many of the French translations of the scripts that can be selected in this plugin are unclear, wrong, or really hard to understand. Honestly, had I only spoken French, I would have just given up on trying to create an automation – it’s that confusing. I’ve submitted some corrections in crowdin but it would be worth going through the whole list at some point to clean it up properly.
I remember that the translations for automations are usually quite difficult because each text individually doesn’t provide much context. Many of them are only one or a few words that don’t make much sense without all the other options.
I’m not saying that texts should be marked as “finally correct” without being thoroughly reviewed within their context, but perhaps this will help you understand why mistakes are particularly easy to make here, and maybe someone will even come up with a way to improve this in the future.
I agree, that’s also why I only fixed a few of them! Honestly I find that the whole system for translating strings without being able to see them in context is quite inefficient.
For this case, I would tackle it by considering the list of scripts as a whole, including the descriptions as they appear in the admin interface and the clarifications in this topic — more like translating a document than a collection of strings. But of course each automation script name has to be coherent with the functionalities it refers to and which exist in other parts of the interface.
I think we need some kind of immersive 3D VR interface to be able to fly through all of Discourse! ![]()
