Does automatic group membership based on email domain work when user changes email?

This feature obviously works when people sign up with a certain domain which grants them access to a specific group. But does it also work when they first sign up with the “wrong” email address (typically: with their private email instead of their work email)?

In more general terms: when exactly does this automatic membership mechanism become active and check a user’s email?

I recently (about a month ago) fixed it so the membership is checked every time the user “creates” or changes their email address :wink:
