Edit Directory Columns does not work.. depending where you are

On 3.2.0 and up

Symptoms:

When you want to edit the columns in the user directory using the cog in the upper right:

  • If your URL is https://forum.example.com/u it works
  • If your URL is https://forum.example.com/u/ it does not work

Cause:
The edit-directory-columns.json request is not absolute, so calling it from /u/ will attempt to call /u/edit-directory-columns.json which does not exist.

Related: shouldn’t /u/ direct to /u or vice versa anyway?

just to try to triage urgency, is there any place we are forwarding you to /u/ vs /u in our UI?

I don’t think it’s on the ui. I stumbled into this, manually entering it into the browsers address bar, on a forum that had the users link removed from the sidebar.
