Nuova visualizzazione sperimentale "Nuovo" raggruppa l'impostazione dell'amministratore

It is indeed… Or is it new new? :stuck_out_tongue:

It does exactly what the description says.

Enable a new topics list that combines unread and new topics and make the “Everything” link in the sidebar link to it.

Instead of having a New and a Unread buttons, everything’s in the New button instead.

As it is experimental, expect bugs.

One of them is that the Dissmiss feature may not work in certain circumstances.

the dismiss features don’t seem to work properly when enabling this.

I checked and we are tracking that issue: the dismiss button not working. Currently, I believe it dismisses new topics, or posts, but not both. We’ll let you know when it’s fixed.

thanks for the update @maiki. team can ignore my pm lol :innocent:

I kept meaning to report this because I turned it on after the first update that caused it to show up on my forums and yeah, it just dismisses New topics.

My users do love it despite that issue though.

I stumbled across this setting while doing some reading and experimenting about how to make my discourse forum’s more user-friendly for newcomers (and myself).

I really like this single “New” view which one can split into topics or replies.

Seems like a more intuitive meaning of “New” to encompass both “Unread” (that is, new replies on tracked topics) and “New” topics (that is, topics that have been created recently). Also close to the “hybrid unread+new filter” that @sam mentioned years ago here.

Is this still experimental and is this topic the only one about the feature?

Hey @donaldsoncd, thanks for sharing your experience here — I’m happy to hear that this “unified new” view is working out well for you!

We are planning to make this non-experimental very soon, and in fact will be taking things a step further to make this the default experience for new communities. I don’t have an exact ETA on when that will be happening, but it’s a planned change.

In the meantime, do you have any questions about how this works or feedback based on how it’s impacting your community? We can move things into a dedicated topic if so!

As a side note, I’m also very interested in this part of your message:

…because that’s something very much on our minds, too. Would you be willing to share more about what you’ve tried so far? We can keep the conversation going here, or move over to PMs or I could even set up a video call to talk it through more, if you’re interested!

Hi @lindsey! Thanks for getting back to me

  • Oh! Very cool and good to know. I don’t have user feedback at this time, but I did run into a minor bug this AM when dismissing notifications (I just moved on), so let me know if you want me to post about that kind of stuff here or somewhere else

Yes, I’d be happy to discuss everything that I’ve been trying and also the various reactions and impressions from a core group of “tester” community users when I decided to finally open this can of worms). In fact, I’d be glad to do it afer all the time and energy that I’ve put into it over the last few months when I should have been focusing on other things :joy:

Shoot me a PM about a video call since I think that’d be the best way to at least start things. I don’t have it all organized in my head and giving you a “commented tour” of my forum’s setup and settings is how I’d approach it :slightly_smiling_face:

A Bug topic would be great for this — thanks so much!

Sounds perfect, thanks so much. I’ll message you!
