I have tried what is described here: Gender neutral German translation by:
- Creating a new organization on Transifex
- Adding a new project named “Discourse Formal German” https://www.transifex.com/discourse-formal-german/discourse-formal-german/dashboard/
- Uploading the German language files (though it indicated the source is English)
- Starting with some translations.
I still need to figure out how to mark all those terms that do not require alteration as translated.
I still have no idea how to configure auto-update for the source files by pointing them to the German locale files (raw) on GitHub.
And “Replace the existing German locale files with the new ones in your Discourse instance” is also on my list.
But hey! It’s a start. And if the opportunity arises to do a formal German translation within the official project, we can use this.
