Getting error when installing Nokogiri on Mac OS X for development

Had an issue installing Nokogiri 1.6.8.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Building Nokogiri with a packaged version of libxml2-2.9.4.

Team Nokogiri will keep on doing their best to provide security
updates in a timely manner, but if this is a concern for you and want
to use the system library instead; abort this installation process and
reinstall nokogiri as follows:

    gem install nokogiri -- --use-system-libraries
        [--with-xml2-config=/path/to/xml2-config]
        [--with-xslt-config=/path/to/xslt-config]

If you are using Bundler, tell it to use the option:

    bundle config build.nokogiri --use-system-libraries
    bundle install

Note, however, that nokogiri is not fully compatible with arbitrary
versions of libxml2 provided by OS/package vendors.

An error occurred while installing nokogiri (1.6.8), and Bundler cannot
continue.
Make sure that `gem install nokogiri -v '1.6.8'` succeeds before bundling.

I tried the gem install nokogiri -v '1.6.8' command, but didn’t work. Does anyone have a solution?

Try:

gem uninstall nokogiri
xcode-select --install
gem install nokogiri

Thanks, it worked!

However, after running bundle exec rake db:migrate db:test:prepare db:seed_fu, I receive this error:

Do:

cd ~/discourse
source ~/.bashrc
bundle install
bundle exec rake db:migrate db:test:prepare db:seed_fu

Updated the OP to reflect the same.

It seems I don’t have permission to run the source ~/.bashrc command yet I’m an admin of the computer.

@henrikbg you should type:

source ~/.bashrc

that should work

Hahaha, thanks. Can’t believe I missed that.

@techAPJ, running into the same issue.

The issue is that current Discourse source code requires Ruby version 2.3, while as per screenshot you have Ruby version 2.2.3 installed.

The Mac install script was updated two weeks ago to install Ruby version 2.3, so it seems you will need to run that script again or update Ruby version manually.

Also, can you please paste contents from your console here instead of pasting screenshots? This will help with better indexing on Google search.
