How does Gamification count reading time?

Curious how the algorithm determines what is defined as “reading”. Is that time spent with a thread opened? Does scrolling through the thread count?

Also, curious about the value of every 100 posts a user reads. How does the system know a post was “read”. Just opened the thread? Time spent on the thread?
