How to remove the OneBox site-icon from appearing in RSS feeds?

When dropping a link with OneBox, you get the site icon there at the top, and then you get the featured image. See the example below.

Is there a way to yank out the site icon? Not with css tricks.

The issue, when using RSS feeds, it’s pulling in the site icon as the RSS feed thumbnail, instead of the featured image that you would expect. Example here (I couldn’t upload an image for some reason). I don’t mind the site icon being there, but some feed readers, tools, are pulling the first image and using it. Not sure how to get around this.

Discourse is putting the Onebox favicon as the featured image or your RSS reader is?

Because checking the XML I don’t see Discourse doing this:

Oh I see, so the problem is that some RSS readers will pull whatever image they found and use it as a " featured image".

I don’t see us having to parse → filter → serialize posts on every RSS request by default, but this is something you could do in a custom plugin if you own the instance that you care most about.

I found a Wordpress plugin and Mailerlite that did this. Both of those just grab the first image and unfortunately, the site icon is the first image. So a custom plugin is the only way, is there any docs on how to do something like that, my guess is no way Jose! :smile:
