IMAP and POP3

There are IMAP settings in Email Settings. What are these for? I’d like to use IMAP with my self hosted Postfix server but I thought only POP3 polling is supported. What is this about?

IMAP support for group inboxes

I’d like to announce that sadly, we are going to be sunsetting IMAP support in Discourse. Neither we nor any of our customers use this, and the functionality has always been alpha-stage since release, with no further plans for future support. We will be doing this within the next few months. Is there a way to use IMAP instead of POP3 for replies by email?

The easiest thing to do is Configure direct-delivery incoming email for self-hosted sites with Mail-Receiver It’s much easier than maintaining an IMAP server anyway.
