Include the new emojis from Microsoft and Google as an option in Discourse

Both Microsoft and Google have recently announced that they’ll be overhauling the way their emojis look. In the case of Google, their new emojis will first begin appearing in Android 12. As for Microsoft, their new emojis will first begin appearing in Windows 11 (and possibly Windows 10 too, but I can’t confirm that at this time). Microsoft’s new emojis will also begin appearing in their productivity suite, but that isn’t relevant to my feature request.

With that out of the way, I would like to see the overhauled emojis be implemented into Discourse. I wanted to bring this up because I know for a fact you can change the way emojis look on your forum when first setting up Discourse.

For context…

We update our emojis periodically as soon as they are available in the unicode consortium database. Those will be no different.

Ah, okay. I didn’t know that. Thanks for the information!

Admittedly, this is not my field of expertise, but does this mean that Microsoft’s new emojis are now available in the database you were referring to?
