As was pointed out here, when inviting a user to a PM, the modal window’s text is “Enter the username of the person you’d like to invite to this topic” (emphasis added by me.)
The text for inviting a user to a PM should be “Enter the username of the person you’d like to invite to this message.” This would be consistent with the text that is displayed when a user is removed from a message.
