I swore I already had a link to this somewhere here on meta, but I guess I didn’t!
Metafilter is one of the most well respected, strongly moderated long running communities on the internet, and Matt Haughey – although he departed to work at Slack years ago, and is no longer at Slack – shared a fantastic 2011 SXSW talk on moderating internet communities through the lens of Metafilter (he was the creator, author, and owner).
I’ve watched this several times and although it’s slightly out of date now, there’s lots of powerful cultural knowledge shared here. It’s worth a look if you haven’t seen it already.
Highly recommended watch for staff, or anyone who runs internet communities.
