Link only category?

I’ve spent some time going through historical discussions on this, but I’m curious if anyone has figured out how to create a category that is intended for links only. I’m imagining that the create new topic description field would be hidden in such a case, as to eliminate user confusion. Has anyone made this happen, or did the hackernews style considerations disappear when discourse began permitting links as a post option?

You can experiment with simple solution. Add this CSS: div#reply-control.topic .d-editor { display: none; It will hide the text-area only in the topic creation composer. Then change the text (Admin > Customize > Text Content) in the title to say “paste a link here”.

Thank you, @falco, but what about implementing that CSS on a specific category – not site-wide?

How can I customise CSS for each category? (as in having different design for each category)

When you’re in a category, discourse adds the category slug to the body element. For example, on meta here when I visit the bug category I get category-bug in the body tag. If you use that as a selector you can style each category differently.

But since people can post to one category while browsing another, it won’t work as you want to.
