What would you like done?
I have my forums at https://medicalschoolhq.net/forums which were migrated from phpBB a few years ago to bbPress with all the proper redirects in place.
I’m looking to switch my community to Discourse, again with all the proper redirects in place. I’ve talked to a few developers and none of them have given me the sense that they are capable of doing this, so I’m reaching out here!
I’m hoping the community can either at the same address, /forums or move to something like forums.medicalschoolhq… or similar. Maybe it’s time to switch to “community.”
When do you need it done?
As soon as possible. My site is using a lot of plugins to support bbPress and I would like to get rid of them.
What is your budget, in $ USD that you can offer for this task?
My budget likely won’t be an issue, but I’ve received several quotes and know a general ballpark for this.
We have done a lot of migrations from bbPress to Discourse and wrote a few parts of the importer code.
We can take care of the import for $600.
Our process is as follows:
you provide us with a copy of the database and an archive file of the attachments (when applicable), or we make one for you if you give us access to your server
we create a test import in our development environment (will take a week or so)
you can take a look at it and see if everything is ok
we adjust things that aren’t perfect
we pick a date and time together for the final migration
you order a Communiteq (formerly DiscourseHosting) forum so there is an empty forum to import to (or, if you want to self-host, you give us access to your new forum)
the current forum is put in read only mode and you send us the most recent copy of the database
we run the final migration
the migrated forum is put online
the redirects are put in place
We’re able to offer hosting as well, see https://www.communiteq.com/pricing/. If you want your forum to appear on /forums (subfolder support) you will need the Business plan. Otherwise the Basic or Professional plans will be suitable (depending on your traffic and plugin and storage requirements).
