Make groups index the home page

Is there a way to make the groups index page the home page of my site?

This is not an option in the setup wizard or, as far as I can tell, in the settings.

I don’t believe there is an out-of-the-box way, but you could likely add it via a plugin.

Thanks for your reply. Do you have any general recommendations/pseudo-code for how to do that?

I’m familiar with changing fields, components, templates, and javascript through a plugin, but not changing the home page–I assume that has to do with changing the routes or controller (but not sure how to do that in a plugin).

UPDATE: I just saw this theme component from @pfaffman that allows you to set an arbitrary home page. I installed it, added /g as the home page, and it seems to be working to make the home page the groups index.
