Manually bump a topic ideally with a single click, only for staff

Hi,I wish to manually bump a topic ideally with a single click only for staff? (this as is following up this discussion)

It makes a stronger case for a feature request if you can add some detail about how you intend to use the feature and what problems you’re having with the existing tools. If you can outline a typical scenario I think it helps people(/the product team) see the problem from your perspective and can give the request a bit more traction. :crossed_fingers:

Yes, I already use the first technique of automatic promotion by category, but it’s too general. It doesn’t allow targeting a specific topic or particular type of topic. Despite the settings, this mechanism sometimes promotes topics that have already been highlighted recently.

Regarding the second mechanism, the one at the individual topic level, I sometimes use it when I want to schedule a promotion at a specific date and time, which is very practical. However, most of the time, I don’t want to set a specific date and time, which makes the configuration unnecessarily time-consuming.

In reality, as the administrator of my site, I simply want to be able to choose which topics to promote to highlight them, and this occasionally based on the nature and interest of the topic. That’s why I would like to have, when a topic is displayed on screen, a simple ā€˜bump’ button that would allow me to promote it with just one click.

A theme component could make a button that does exactly the same AJAX call that the existing interface does with a single click instead of going through the interface. I don’t think that there is a way ā€œnot to choose a dateā€, but you could make it default to whatever date you want.

Yeah as I understand the bump mechanism, the actual date and time would be fine.

I have no control over whether this will ever be added as a feature (and don’t have much of an opinion), but I doubt it. If you want this soon, you can ask in Marketplace. I’d think $200-500 would attract a developer.
