Merge posts with the likes each post had?

Hi all!

I’m not sure if this is possible but I tried to search and I can’t find it anywhere. Is it possible to merge posts and keep the likes that the posts received?

When we merge posts and say post-1 had three likes whereas post-2 has only one like, the first post-1 will be deleted and then the post that came after will be the merged post. This is not fair really! The user received in total four likes and I don’t think that making a second post is a good enough penalty to get the previous posts deleted. I know it’s possible to ‘manually’ merge by editing posts but that still doesn’t solve the issue.

Hope to hear your opinions! Should this be a feature? Is it actually possible and I’m getting it wrong?

How would that help? What if one of three likes on Post 1 is the same user that liked post 2?

Presumably a user could still only like a post once, so the total would remain 3 in this scenario.
