Oops, yeah, we’re looking into this.
We removed the support for the “site-wide password” and it looks like this is the side-effect.

Very very strange, no idea how the login_required setting was set to true.
Which does bring up a point, we should have an audit trail on site settings, some changes there can really cause much pain.
