I understood from another topic, which I cannot find anymore, there is a setting that allows us to see more options when trying to edit the picture in discourse user’s preferences…
Is there really such a setting, and if so, how can I reach it?
So far, anything avatar related did not work.
I can only see “System assigned profile picture” when clicking the pencil to edit a user photo.
Meanwhile, I wondered if I could upload images at all, and noticed in settings that Authorized extensions and Authorized extension for staff were empty.
In the end I configured it like this, and it worked:

That would explain it!
You didn’t need to add those to the staff setting. The staff values are added to the other. You might want staff to upload pdf but no one else, for example.
