One other point here is risk and maintenance: if you use the out of the box daily solution it is likely to be more robust and reliable as a back-up solution that if you go ahead and configure your own. What if something goes wrong with your own solution and you find out only when it’s too late? At least with the standard solution you have 100’s of sites testing it daily.
Given I’ve not had a single experience of corruption across several sites in 4 years the risk of actually needing the back-up in the first place is also low …
Perhaps others can mention bigger risks, but probably the biggest risk is problems due to filling up the server? So keep an eye on space? Set up an alert?
