Since the Events plugin is discontinued and the Event addon plugin can not replace some functionalities yet, my community switched to a Nextcloud calendar for events. I wonder if you would consider adding the possibility to pass an url parameter so that the calendar would connect to an ical and dynamically bring back events through the web ?
