Hi there, with the introduction of the new composer, the “Quote whole post” button has moved to the “Options” .dropdown-menu. This feels like a rather sub-optimal location, as this button is/was quite frequently used on my forum. It looks like it is possible to move it manually, but it requires some fairly complex custom coding:
Could it at least be moved back to the main buttons row by default? From there it’s relatively simple to hide it or other less used buttons if the admin wants to tweak that.
One thing I found super pleasant was the introduction of the “post menu” site setting (/admin/site_settings/category/all_results?filter=post%20menu) by @saquetim.
@renato It could be really cool if this was an option for the composer. I think it may address some of the biggest composer requests on customizability.
We’re unlikely to move this back the moment, but I would like to hear what usecases your forum has for this? What is the scenario to quote an entire post again?
It’s a large forum that was migrated from a traditional forum, so those older conventions stick. If it’s a fairly short post that is quite far back in the conversation thread then some might quote the whole thing if they’re replying to it, thus helping preserve the threading (although Discourse has its own automatic reply threading). Also some mobile users have commented that it’s easier to just quote the entire post with a single button click, rather than trying to finger-select text and deal with the popup quote button.
