How can I put the search back into the magnifying glass in the top bar?
I’ve been looking for banner and search in the settings, but meh… Cannot find it again. I find the banner taking way too much precious space on top.
I can only find welcome_banner_location:
I think the search icon is hidden when the welcome banner is visible.
The settings to disable the welcome banner and adjust the search experience are now themeable site settings. You find them when you edit your theme at /admin/customize/themes and at /admin/config/theme-site-settings
But Meta has both the icon in the header and the Welcome Banner? Did they enable it and select ‘Search icon near profile avatar’ [1]?
Finding that text for the setting took some digging and guessing. Phew! ↩︎
But Meta doesn’t use the core banner. When you use safe mode, you can see that banner and how it hides the search icon.
