Screen jumping around on mobile

I just merged this fix on tests-passed: FIX: Buggy topic scrolling on iOS 12 (#16422) · discourse/discourse@cd02ea0 · GitHub, it’s deployed here on meta. That commit fixes an issue where posts 20 and up wouldn’t auto-load and the topic progress counters (in bottom right corner of the screen) weren’t updating as the users scrolled the page.

The fix is small and will be backported to stable next week. Can you confirm here on meta whether it also fixes the issues raised in the OP? I don’t see an issue in an iOS 12.4 simulator, I don’t have an actual device on iOS 12 though.

Fix has been backported to stable, @orangeandblack5 please let us know if your users still experience issues on iOS12 even after a rebuild.

Will do, sorry I missed the last message.

@pmusaraj

It’s a bit wonky, but it works
It still jumps when I scroll up and it has to load posts, but they don’t disappear
So I can just scroll down again if I want to read them

(This about Meta)

Literally about to go to sleep and tomorrow is Easter so I’ma just post this link and if somebody wants to be a dear and extract the video that’d be awesome

If not remind me on Monday lol

(I taught them how to screen record now so it should be better quality!)

Thanks @orangeandblack5 we will take a look at the remaining scrolling issues. Note that they’re lower priority than scrolling completely not working, and sadly, some wonkiness is to be expected with such old browsers.

isn’t iOS 12 only from 2019 lol

It’s from 2018, but only much older devices (from 2014) cannot upgrade to iOS 13 and above. So this support is really for devices from 8 years ago.

To be clear I was mostly commenting on how fast tech stuff moves and not actually critiquing your priorities, but that nonetheless does make sense!

Also it only got replaced by iOS 13 in 2019 so I maintain that date is correct :stuck_out_tongue:
